On Site Bristol has previously developed programmes to help employers recruit and train adults looking to make a start in construction or to enable those who have left the industry for a period of time return.

These programmes rely on funding, usually from government agencies, which at the present time is not available. On Site Bristol is continuing to explore other avenues of funding and if successful will look to re-start the programme should we attract the funding. This page will be updated as and when this occurs.

The programme can help employers to address recruitment difficulties and gives local people the opportunity to gain the skills that employers need for the future. The prgramme will offer:

A motivated person looking for work, who has already passed the ConstructionSkills Health & Safety test and is keen to gain a CSCS card as a first step towards skilled employment.

The chance to take the trainee on trial for a few weeks before deciding whether or not to employ them. During the trial period, the trainee will be able to apply for a CSCS card (general operatives) with help from our staff.

Once you’ve decided to employ one of our trainees, we will work with you to arrange further training to enable your trainee to achieve NVQ2 and a skilled CSCS card. Funding for this training should be available from the Skills Funding Agency (through their Train to Gain programme) and ConstructionSkills grant (where applicable).

Some of the trainees on our programme will include people who have been studying at college on construction courses, but need to have site experience before they can become fully skilled. This means they will come to you with good knowledge of construction which should give them a head start in the workplace.
