On Site Bristol does not look for particular GCSE grades as entry requirements for a Bricklaying Apprenticeship, but we do need to be sure that we recruit the right people.

We have two stages in selecting our recruits – apptitude test and interview

When you have applied to On Site Bristol, you will be invited to take the Construction Skills Learning Exercise, the “industry standard” entry test, set by ConstructionSkills (the Sector Skills Council for construction) before you can become a Bricklaying Apprentice,

You must pass this test to be considered for an Apprenticeship, as it will show us whether you have the abilities to cope with the training, especially the off-the-job training at college.

Having passed the test, applicants will be invited for an interview at On-Site Bristol. The interview is designed to ensure that you have the right attitude to become an Apprentice, assessing your interpersonal skills, motivation and commitment to training. The interview will be with two members of On Site Bristol staff, and will use a standard set of questions, against which your answers will be scored, to ensure equality between all applicants.

This interview will give you an opportunity to tell us about yourself and why you want to work in construction. On Site Bristol staff will want to know about your school attendance and behaviour record, if you have done particularly well at anything in school as well as what your GCSE results are likely to be.

Any work experience of any sort, spare time activities, work you may have done in your house or garden and teams or clubs you are a member of, are also of great interest to us and will be taken into account during interview.
