FRAMEWORK & QUALIFICATIONS
Apprentices work towards a number of qualifications, called a Framework, usually including an NVQ Level 2, a Technical Certificate, at least two Key Skills and Employment Rights & Responsibilities. Some frameworks also have additional skills tests.
The Apprenticeship Framework for Bricklaying has the following qualifications

- Unit VR01 Conform to general workplace safety
- Unit VR02 Conform to efficient work practices
- Unit VR03 Move and handle resources
- Unit VR40 Erect masonry structures
- Unit VR41 Set out masonry structures
- Unit VR44 Erect thin joint masonry structures
- Intermediate Construction Award Trowel Occupations Bricklaying Route 100/1254/0
