Wesley B.

Wesley lives in Knowle and attended Ashton Park School. His father is an electrician and Wesley was keen to follow in his footsteps. He began his four year electrical installation training in September 2002, gained employment in December 2002 and progressed onto an Advanced Apprenticeship in July 2003.

Wesley completed all of his off-the-job training at City of Bristol College, achieving his level three technical certificate in April 2005 and his Key Skills awards in November 2005.

Wesley was a slow starter on his NVQ and was hampered by the range of work that his company had for a period of time. To address this Wesley spent a lot of time with his Training Co-ordinator and his Assessor to ensure progression against his NVQ. Wesley is now in a position whereby he should complete his NVQ pretty much on time.

Jon H.

Jon lives in Shirehampton and attended St Katherine’s School, leaving in May 2003. He did well in his electrical entrance test and had already approached several employers before his interview with On-Site Bristol. Jon started his training in July 2003, with a year’s full-time further education at City of Bristol College. On-Site Bristol found Jon an employer in January 2004 and he began his Advanced Apprenticeship in September 2004.

Jon completed his college work in June 2006, achieving his level three technical certificate with distinction.

Jon has completed his Electrotechnical NVQ 3 in a short space of time resulting in an outstanding achievement unmatched by his peers. His understanding of the NVQ, dedication to obtaining the information required for the site diary and the excellent range of work provided by his employer has made this possible.

All that remains for full completion of his Advanced Apprenticeship Framework is the AM2 skills test, due in January 2007, and Jon will have achieved everything more than six months ahead of schedule.

Jon was awarded “Best in Trade – Electrical Installation” at the on-Site Bristol Awards Ceremony in October 2006, winning himself an engraved trophy, framed certificate and £100 in tools vouchers.
