You will be well aware that construction is inherently unsafe, unless the right precautions are in place. Combine this with a young person who has little or no experience of the construction industry and there is potentially a disastrous mixture.

Accordingly, On Site Bristol takes very seriously our duty of care towards all of our apprentices, and we expect only the same from our employers. Our approach to ensuring Health & Safety in Apprenticeships is outlined in our Health & Safety Policy Statement, which can be viewed below.

No apprentice is placed with an employer by On Site Bristol unless we have been assured that the correct health and safety management arrangements are in place. We will carry out health & safety placement checklists every two years with each employer, and we will require a copy of up-to-date employers’ and public liability insurance. A young persons risk assessment will be put in place before your apprentice starts work.

Each apprentice will have been given a health and safety induction by On Site Bristol and will be issued with appropriate personal protective equipment. We will continue to assess your apprentice’s understanding of workplace health and safety, as part of our progress reviews, and all apprentices will undertake formal health and safety training as part of their college courses.

On Site Bristol’s staff have been trained in assessing health and safety in the workplace, and hold appropriate qualifications. This enables them to provide information and offer advice on actions necessary to ensure the safety of apprentices in the workplace.

Our own arrangements for monitoring and ensuring apprentice’s workplace health and safety are inspected and audited on an annual basis and have been identified as best practice, by the Learning & Skills Council. On Site Bristol is also subject to the requirements of Bristol City Council’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
