APPRENTICESHIPS

On Site Bristol currently offers Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships in five main trades – Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery, Electrical Installation, Painting & Decorating and Plumbing. Details of each can be found by clicking on Programme Descriptions.

We can also offer other courses in response to employer demand. If there is another trade in which you’d like an apprentice, contact Barney Willis on 0117-353-3480 to discuss details.

Apprenticeships usually last for two years, with apprentices gaining NVQ Level Two, along with an intermediate technical certificate and key skills at college.

Advanced Apprenticeships take three or four years (including time already spent on an Apprenticeship), with apprentices gaining NVQ Level Three, an advanced technical certificate and key skills.

You will employ the apprentice throughout the period of their training and commit to ensuring that they are able to achieve all of their qualifications.

On Site Bristol offers a full and professional service to employers with an apprentice, including

  • recruitment and selection
  • arranging all off-the-job training (usually at City of Bristol College, at no cost), assessments, tests and examinations
  • providing Personal Protective Equipment and a basic toolkit
  • drawing up a training plan for each apprentice
  • reviewing progress every ten weeks, at college and in the workplace
  • advice on Health & Safety arrangements and management
  • advice on employment issues
  • assistance with obtaining CITB Training Grants (where applicable)

Apprentices are usually aged between 16 and 19 when they start their training, but it is possible for employers to choose to take an older person on as an apprentice.
