On-Site Bristol is committed to promoting equal opportunities and diversity in its apprenticeship programmes. This is a reflection of the policies of the member organisations making up our Partnership, and of the various duties and responsibilities placed upon us by legislation in respect of local authorities and other public service bodies.

We have adopted the policy statement of Bristol City Council as our formal Equal Opportunities policy and aim to ensure that this is implemented throughout our activities. In November 2004, the Partnership Board accepted a strategic proposal to increase diversity in apprenticeships, see download below, and this drives our implementation plans.

All apprentices are given a “user friendly” version of our policies and procedures to implement equalities and diversity, which can also be downloaded from this page. Understanding of the contents of this document is re-enforced with apprentices during regular progress reviews.

Annual monitoring of our recruitment processes is undertaken to identify the impact of our diversity policy and prioritising of target groups. Similar monitoring is undertaken in respect of apprentice retention and achievement, with appropriate revisions to processes and procedures in response to any specific weaknesses identified.

With the introduction of Age Discrimination regulations in October 2006, On-Site Bristol has recently developed a policy for the delivery of apprenticeships for people of all ages. This policy can be downloaded below.
