We work on a first come first served basis, which often means that the first employers to ask us to find an apprentice will get the pick of that year’s bunch.

Around 30 of our apprentices will start their training without an employer, which means that we may have apprentices available for an immediate start at any time of the year.

All of our apprentices will have met basic entry criteria, which vary according to particular trades –

Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting & Plastering– ConstructionSkills Skills Learning Exercise test

Plumbing – City of Bristol College Plumbing Entrance Test, or GCSE’s in English and Maths at grade C

Electrical Installation – GCSE’s in English, Maths & Science at least to Grade D

As well as having passed the entrance requirements, all of our apprentices will have been interviewed by On Site Bristol, to assess their motivation and suitability for employment and training in their chosen trade.

Once you have informed us that you have a vacancy, we will suggest a few selected candidates (you can tell us how many you’d like to see) for you to interview and choose. We can contact the candidates and make the arrangements for them to attend an interview with you. We can even provide you with an interview room.

There is no obligation to select an apprentice from the ones we send you – if you don’t find any to be suitable, we can refer others or help you to recruit from the start.

When you have selected an apprentice, we will ensure that they are enrolled onto appropriate college courses, given a health and safety induction, provided with appropriate personal protective equipment and given a basic toolkit relevant to their chosen trade.
