Arek started his journey with On Site Bristol in 2015, driven by his enthusiasm for practical work, problem-solving and a keen desire to learn on the job he knew an apprenticeship with the best choice for him after leaving school. Arek applied to On Site Bristol who supporting him in finding an Electrical Apprenticeship with Business Electrical.

Engaging in hands-on learning for four days a week on site, Arek gained valuable skills and knowledge. From installations to troubleshooting, these experiences were pivotal in understanding the intricacies of electrical work. He also spent one day a week at college learning the theory and underpinning knowledge of electrical installations, covering safety protocols and industry regulations.

Balancing workplace duties and college commitments initially posed challenges, but with structured schedules and support from both the company and On Site Bristol, Arek successfully managed the workload. The combination of hands-on experience and classroom learning greatly improved his overall grasp of electrical engineering concepts.

Arek enjoyed putting classroom lessons into real-life situations, which boosted his confidence and skills and he credits his On Site Bristol Training Officer for being instrumental to his success.

Arek says “Every 10 weeks, the team at On Site Bristol reviewed my progress at work and in college, offering valuable insights and guidance during my apprenticeship. Ian Moore and Katrina Payne from On Site Bristol consistently supported me, recognizing my potential even when I couldn't see it myself”

Arek's journey as an electrical apprentice extended beyond becoming an electrician; he aspired to establish his own electrical business and in June 2020, along with another On Site Bristol Apprentice, Liam, he founded Sentient Electrical. Their vision for the company demonstrated flexibility and strength, quickly gaining recognition as a significant player in the industry.

Today Sentient Electrical, operating nationally, offers a range of services, including domestic and commercial installations, reactive maintenance, fire and security solutions, and solar/EV installations. The company emphasizes the importance of integrating renewable energy solutions, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability. Their pledge to install more renewable energy solutions by 2035 signifies dedication to environmental consciousness and a sustainable future.

Understanding the importance of comprehensive training for emerging electricians, Arek and Liam have returned to On Site Bristol to recruit their own apprentice remaining dedicated to supporting young people entering the industry. Arek's journey is a testament to the success that can be achieved through a combination of practical experience, theoretical learning, and unwavering support from mentors and training programs.
